What is the catch with casino rakeback?
Every one of the 12 rakeback programmes we track has a catch, and they are the same five catches repeated (latest read 2026-09-02). The headline rate is usually a top-tier or invitation-only number rather than what a new account earns: Gamdom's advertised "up to 60%" was invitation only, and Spartans' 33% is the top of an RTP-scaled range that falls to 5% on the highest-RTP games. The rate is usually a share of the HOUSE EDGE rather than of your turnover, which is a much smaller number: BC.Game computes it against a fixed notional 1% edge, so its 20% to 24% works out around 0.2% of what you wager. Some programmes do not exist at all at the bottom: Playbet paid no rakeback below GOLD level on our last confirmable read, a record we now hold as unverified because its source has since dropped the claim. Some publish a ladder but not the rate the ladder pays, as Rainbet does. And some publish no standing rate at all: Gamdom's 2026 restructure dropped its published tiers entirely in favour of a per-bet calculation nobody outside Gamdom can check, which is why we read the help centre rather than the promotions page.

How we know
Each catch is recorded at the time we read the operator's own rakeback or VIP page, and it stays attached to that record with its read date. We do not treat a headline percentage as the rate: where an operator publishes a range, an invitation-only tier or a level gate, the catch column says so. Where the operator publishes a rate we can check, we say that too. Rakeback is one of the few casino promotions that is genuinely worth money at volume, so the point of this page is to make the real rate legible, not to argue against the product.

The gap does not close on the most generous reading the page itself supports, and 25% is the only ceiling it substantiates.

The advertised ceiling was invitation only and bore no relation to what an ordinary account earned.
