Rakeback and cashback: what the headline rate is really worth.
A rakeback headline is rarely what a new account earns, and it is almost never a percentage of what you wager. These 10 answers do the arithmetic: whether a programme pays on the HOUSE EDGE or on turnover, which changes the real return by an order of magnitude, whether the advertised figure is a top-tier or invitation-only rate, whether the credit carries a wagering requirement that makes it worth less than its face value, and which programmes publish enough to be computed at all. Where an operator's own pages contradict themselves we publish both figures and show the sum (newest read 2026-09-02).
Almost every advertised reward rate is the top of a ladder, computed on a base that is not your turnover. The arithmetic is the whole story.

Common questions
What is the catch with casino rakeback?
Usually one of five: the headline is a top-tier or invitation-only rate rather than the entry rate, it is computed on the house edge rather than your turnover, the programme does not exist at all below a certain VIP level, the ladder is published without the rates it pays, or no standing rate is stated anywhere. RAW reads the help centre rather than the promotions page for exactly this reason.
Is rakeback the same as cashback?
No. Rakeback is a share of the house edge on everything you wager, win or lose. Cashback is a percentage of your net losses over a period. They pay out on completely different bases, and a site quoting them interchangeably is not doing the arithmetic.
Is casino cashback ever genuinely wager-free?
Sometimes, and it is the single most important thing to check, because cashback credited as a bonus with a wagering multiplier is worth a fraction of the same figure paid as cash. RAW records the wagering multiplier as a typed field per programme rather than repeating the operator's adjective.
How this topic is verified
Every answer collected here is built from operator documents or checkable public records, carries the date it was read, and is asserted against the dataset when this site builds: if the words and the data disagree, the build fails rather than the page going out wrong. The full criteria are on the method page, and the operators we refused to rate, with the reason, are on the refusals ledger.
Operators: reviews here are not permanent. You can request a re-evaluation every 3 months, publish a right of reply on any page about you, and see exactly what the criteria are before you ask. Details on the operators page.
